What a small but great world we have!

" What a small but great world we have! "

Weddings is truly a great and meaningful event in a couple's life. It is also a great time to call all the family members and celebrate this wonderful occasion. Last june 14 2012, my Tita Titen and Tito Joseph got married. It took place in Caleruega, Nasugbu, Batangas. A perfect place for an intimite wedding just for the couple and family members. At that wonderful occasion, i met my ate Liway, my kuya Mickey's girlfriend.

My Kuya Mickey and Ate Liway

My ate Liway formally introduced to me which was so awkward, because of the formality. She is practically my tita as well, but due to the close age gaps, i just simply call her "ate" Liway. She even offered me her hand for an handshake, but just gave her a hug. I am not that old you know. The day turned out well, the wedding was so solemn. My tita Titen  looked stunning in her traditional white bridal gown, and tito Joseph in his modern look of the Filipino barong tagalog.

The day after that, me and my kuya Marc had to got back to Manila. It was a sunday, so we had to pack our things, but before so we had to drop by at my kuya Mickey's house and fetch the both of them with my Kuya Jerome, ate Jen and my cousin Yoshi. We also brought my kuya Mickey back to San Fernando Airbase because he is in training there. With all of those activities, we hit the rode to Manila at around 8 pm.

My ate Liway is a professor in the University of the Philippines Diliman, and is taking up Law in the same university. I was so impressed by her, most especially that she took up law because she wants to peaceful resolution in Mindanao. She told me as well about her peace works before, going to camps to talk about the advantages of peaceful resolution and approach to problems and issues. The camps she went to were: (1) the 61st Infantry Batallion of the AFP in Maguindanao. (2) Balay Foundation in Cotabato for the displaced civilian families. (3) the MILF head camp in Darapan, Maguindanao. She is a great woman. For me, Her contributions are so great. I am really blown away by her pure heart and caught off guard because i would never have thought that i would meet her.

The class my Ate Liway lectured to

With this incident, a realizations came to me. First, is that i my contributions to achieve peace is not yet enough. I know i can be like my ate Liway, doing the extra mile in achievin the peace we all desire for our country. Second, is that we, the torchbearers of peace or simply the people who wish peace in the Philippines, are not alone. We might think that the people we know and people we see in the television are the only ones fighting for peace. There are people out their who are doing the same mission in their own little ways. We should not feel weak or out numbered because we have each other and the others that we don't know yet of. We should never lose hope and motivation because there are others out there who are still fighting even if they do not know what is up ahead. What a small world we have seeing and meeting other peacemakers in the most unexpected time and place.

Keep on pushing yourself for the peace we wish to achieve, and continue to inspire others in order to teach their minds and touch hearts. With them, Lets us all move to transform lives, not only the people of today but also the people of tomorrow, with the peace we all aim to have.

This is Neo Macatangay, making peace happen, until the next blog entry.

Get inspired and get motivated.
Move with us!
God Bless everyone!

Bringing Pride to my School and Department

Last January 2012,
My Organization (Medical Technology Society) at UST joined a congress by PHISMETS.
It is a nation wide organization of Medical technology students in the Philippines.

One of the contest was a shirt design contest.
With that, I represented my School UST in the said contest.
And out of my Surprise, I won second place out of 10+ designers from different schools.

My plaque for 2nd place in shirt design contest.

Even it was just for 2nd place, it is a great achievement for me.
Bringing honor and pride to my school and department.
I look forward in defending such place and going for the 1st place.

My models Henrick and Shanna!

I would like to thank my Models Henrick Ryan Fong and Shanna Calupitan.
They brought my design alive in the ruway.
I congratulate them for winning 2nd as well in the model search, since it is a three way entry.
It is because, what ever the place the shirt gets, that is the same place of the model, because they contributed to the totality of the design!

I am Happy to make my school and department proud.
I love my school!
GO USTe!

well thats for now!

Peace out! =3

My chinese New year

hello everyone!
Sorry for the late update.
Too busy in school!

Just wanna make a late post about my Chinese New Year last January 23, 2012!

I spent it at Makati Shangrila,
after my tito ferdie's 50th birhtday party at TGIF in Glorietta.

At TGIF for My Tito Ferdie's 50th party
Food was so good! plus since his theme was Chinese new year, Tikoy was used as a give away.
There was also a sketch maker who made a sketch of me wearing a Chinese costume! Sorry I will try to post the sketch soon!

A Dragon in Makati Shangrila made out of fresh flowers!
In Makati Shangrila, this dragon out of flowers took my attention. I was so awesome!
The celebration was starten by the Lion and Dragon dance.
Then they entered the Hotel Lobby, and the administration scattered coins for us to catch and get
It is a Chinese tradition to do that.
Then there was another performance by the couple Lions, offering the head manager of makati Shangrila gifts for a great year.
Couple lions (Lion Dance)

Dragon used
Before we left, I had a picture with the dragon used, It was said that we should hold the ball (seen above) that is chased by the dragon for good luck.

All in all, my chinese new year was great!
My dad plans next year to check in at Makati Shangrila!

Well thats for now!
Bye!

2012: Year of the Water Dragon

water dragon
So 2012 is the year of the WATER DRAGON!
I have to admit I am a Chinese wanna be!
I admire and love the Chinese community and I wish I have Chinese blood!

In general, they say the year of the water dragon is a time for change.
I got this information from a TV show (Kris TV) and in the News (Bandila) here in the Philippines.

I am a Rooster for everyones knowledge.
So the fung shui expert said that

  • Roosters are the STAR OF THE YEAR!
  • It is a very good year for us roosters
  • our assets of wealth will expand
  • though or relationships are conflicts and aggravation
  • wealth luck is excellent
  • health luck has big improvement
  • it is a year of petty conflicts for us roosters
  • we have strong life force this year
  • Best month for us are October and December
  • Bad month for us are April and January 2013
Water Rooster

Those information are in general for all roosters.
So I googled my self and I found out I am a Water Rooster!
I laughed because before I joke around that I am a Son of Poseidon.
And upon knowing this information that I am a water element rooster.

Here is the description on the water rooster based from metaphysicalzone.com

Hardworking, resourceful, courageous and talented, Roosters are self-assured people. They possess powerful personalities and are notoriously dominant. In groups they are vivacious, amusing and popular. But Roosters can be conceited creatures, vain and boastful, with a strong egotistical need to constantly be the center of attention. Excellent at small talk, they can be the life of any party. Roosters are talkative types, outspoken, frank, open, honest -- but a little too blunt at times. A polished debater and able to cogently refute any opinion, the Rooster is a talented polemicist, and could be an excellent journalist or writer. With the Rooster's dedication to work well done, he or she would also make a good economist or a gifted administrator.
These people are born organizers, refined and elegant. They are tidy-minded and like to keep everything neat and shipshape. Their affairs will be all in order, accounts up to the minute and documents systematically filed away. They function best in an environment where everything is organized and their schedules programmed. When it comes to making decisions of any kind, Roosters prefer to carefully consider all sides of a situation before coming to a conclusion. In conflicts, Roosters will push to the extreme but flee before open hostilities break out. Their reflective and analytical abilities sometimes get the better of them. They must constantly question their point of view to ascertain its validity.
The management of finances is perhaps their strength, both on a private and professional level. When it comes to money, Roosters are prudent and careful. They are brilliant managers of other people's money; financial advisers, bank managers, and accountants would all do well to be born in the Year of the Rooster. The Rooster has the reputation of finding money in the most unlikely places, like drawing blood from a stone. In Vietnam they say that, thanks to the strength of his beak and claws, the Rooster can find a worm in a desert. This metaphor goes a long way to explain the continual and restless activity that characterizes him.
The Rooster man likes to be in the company of women, among whom he can show off, shine, swagger and generally demonstrate what a clever fellow he is. However, he rarely goes out for a night with the boys; men bore him to extinction. His Hen counterpart also likes the company of other women -- that's not to say that men bore her! -- and she chooses those professions which keep her constantly in touch with them.
The Rooster will touch the heights and depths during the three phases of his life, business-wise as well as romantically. He will go from poverty to riches, from ideal love to the most sordid of emotional entanglements. The Rooster's old age will be happy, however.
Legend has it in the East that two Roosters under the same roof make life intolerable for everyone else.
Under the influence of the element of Water, he is an intellectual type who enjoys cultural pursuits. He has tremendous energy and initiative at his disposal and seeks to use his resources to speed up progress. He is given to clear thinking and practicality and can be reasoned into compliance when faced with insurmountable obstacles. A commanding speaker, proficient in the written word, he can sway that masses and incite willing action from others. He has strong scientific leanings and his mind functions with computer-like efficiency, overlooking the main issues when he over stresses details.

So hope I have interested you guys to search for your elements as well!
Remember that there is nothing wrong in Feng Sui.
It is just a form of guidance and science.

Prayer and Doing good things can also be good Feng Sui!

January 23 is the Chinese New Year!
Wear something red!

Peace out! xoxo

2012... Another year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
So hello 2012... and nice knowing you 2011...

It's January 3 2012, my first blog for the year.

So let me share to you what I have realized as the countdown for 2012 was on...

I realized that alot of changes will come my way.
Changes that are very important for sure.

I realized that I still have 3 months for school and I will be a junior.
And when I become a junior in June 2012, it will only be few more months and I will be graduating soon.
Time flies so fast thought it feels so slow.
For my career, my goal for now is just to finish college on time without any problems.
Take the board exam for MT, take the NMAT and go to med school.

Another realization I had was, I will turn 19 in 4 months.
When that comes, I only have one more year to be really a teenager.
Because after that, I am 20. And it would be so awkward then.

Maturity came to my mind as well.
It was not totally there yet but it was there.
I realized that my thoughts and ideas even opinions about the world around me is mature enough.
Like on my way awhile ago from my province to manila, I thought of adopting a child.
Being a father and stuff.
I have no plans to be a young dad yet.
But I was like so curious at the topic.

I just laughed to myself.
Knowing that "hey, that's new to me!"

I know that its quite corny but hey, there will come a point in your life when you will stop and think.
As you do so, you form goals, dreams and aspiration.
Then persistence and dedication will come.
And the rest will follow.

Dreaming for things and Planning for them are a must for life.
You can't just say "I don't know" or like as we in Filipino say it "Bahala na".

So to my young readers put there!
(If I do have readers! hahaha!)
Make everything in your life count.
Do not waste time, energy and chances.
You will never know if they will come back again.
Planning ain't boring, it is a must and fun.
It is for you own good.

Well that's my advice to you guys and a sharing what i have realize.
It is important to pause for awhile in life.
Take a deep breath, then Reflect and Think.
TRY IT!
don't worry its for free!

Peace out! xoxox

This is a continuation of my Christmas Eve dinner food sharing.

So for dessert, me and my mom discovered this great custaroon poppers from Gigi Gaerlan.
We found their shop in E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave. Bagumbayan, Quezon City  at the St. Padre Pio church parking lot.
Here is there contact information via their website

They also have other stuff there.
I also like their cupcake shaped custaroons with cheese on top!
We bought a big one box of 24 for Php 600.00 for the New Year!
But as usual I was not able to control it and I am eating one now.
So much for New year! hahaha

Christmas Eve Dinner

Hello Everyone!
I was so eager to blog again that I just have to!
So my Christmas 2011 was quite lonely because my dad was not around.
But hey, Jesus Christ was born on the 25th, which is still something to be happy for.
Here is a glimpse of our Christmas Eve dinner table set up.
Recently for the past 2 years, my mom decided to collect Santa Claus.
So Instead of the usual Christmas tree and stuff, our living room is full of Santa Claus.

Christmas Eve Dinner Table Set-up

So like I promised, I will teach you guys how to cook the food we ate for Christmas Eve Dinner.
The menu was
Garlic olive-oil based angel’s hair pasta
Shredded Potato (another version of mash potato… story later on!)
Steak

The bad news is, I didn’t cook the steak so I won’t be able to share it with you guys.
I will try to ask my mom the whole process again. So keep posted.

So First up, THE PASTA.

Ingredients for pasta.
Ingredients:
       1. Your choice of olive oil
       2. Garlic (cut into flakes ; quantity: as many as you want, the more the better)
       3. Tuna (in flakes ; to stay away from hassle, use the ones in can)
       4. Angel’s hair pasta
       5. Thyme
       6. Black Pepper (powdered)

First, cook the angel’s hair pasta. Follow the instructions found in the wrapper.
Tip: to check if the pasta is OK already, take a small portion of the pasta and toss to a wall. If it stick already, then it is ready. Make sure not to overcook and make it shaggy.

Second, Cool down the pasta by placing it in running water. Strain and set aside.

Third, in a pan, sauté the garlic in the olive oil. Since the pasta as a whole is oil-based, use a lot of oil good enough to cover the pasta you have cooked. CAUTION: Do not overcook and burn the garlic.

Fourth, Add thyme as many as you want. Stir awhile. Then add the tuna flakes. If tuna is submerged in oil or water, drain first.
Tip: If tuna flakes are submerged in oil, add a small amount of oil to pan to add a flavor.
Option: If you want it to have some spicy, Use tuna flakes submerged in Hot and spicy oil. Add such oil to pan in small amount.

Fifth, add powdered black pepper for taste. Adjust it the way you want it.

Lastly, turn of stove and allow oil to cool a bit. Then, mix in the same pan your completely drained angel’s hair pasta. Mix thoroughly and serve.

Lastly, THE POTATO.

I learned this recipe from our family friend (my mom’s bestfriend), Tita Miner Yema from California, USA. She introduced us this recipe when we were there in the US for a visit last summer (2011).

Ingredients:
1.       Potatoes
2.       All purpose cream
3.       Sour Cream
4.       Evaporated milk
5.       Quickmelt cheese
6.       Cornflakes cereal of your choice

First, Shred the potatoes without the skin. Place them in a bowl of water to retain color and prohibit oxidation.
Shredding the potatoes

Second, mix all purpose flour and sour cream in another bowl. Adjust the proportion according to your taste if you want a strong taste from the sour cream or not. (I actually used 1 sour cream:2 all purpose cream)

All purpose cream and sour cream mixture

Third, in a baking pan, place the potatoes first, spread out to whole pan. Then place the cream mixture. Then add evaporated milk directly into pan. Adjust amount according to your choice.

Evaporated Milk

Fourth, shred quickmelt cheese on top. Sprinkle your choosen cornflake cereals on top of cheese for some crunch.

Lastly, bake in oven. No specific temperature and time. Stop if all ingredients mix together and indistinguishable. Taste time to time with a spoon potatoes are cooked according to your preferred texture and taste.

Hope you like them. Sorry if I have no final product results. In this recipes, there are no specific quantities. It is all up to you if you want more garlic or not, more sour cream or not and the like. It is all about adjusting.

I assure you they are all delicious!

Well, that’s for now.
See you next time!

Stay safe! xoxo

So much for Christmas break

Hello everyone!
How was your Christmas?
Belated Merry Christmas to you guys!

Sorry if I was not able to blog.
I do not have internet at home here in my province.

Lately I realize that my 2-weeks Christmas break is like no other week.
Its just like weekend.
Nothing much happened these past few days.
I wake up late, eat, play computer games (since no internet), stay up late and sleep late.
No major plans since my family skipped reunion this year.
My cousins are not as enthusiastic as I am in going out.
Though these coming days I have plans but if it wasn't for me, and my brothers, these plans won't happen.

Wish I have a lot of money this Christmas season so that I can do alot.
So I advice everyone to save money for the summer break.
It will be a long one so save save save.
So that in times of boredom.
We can do something.

BTW coming up next or soon before I start school, I will blog on what I cooked for Christmas.
Foods I ate like heaven. And lastly I will teach you guys how to cook.
I took pictures of them so it would be easier for you guys.

Peace and stay safe.
Happy New Year in advance!

Fuckin' Perfect by Pink

Another song of my life.
Just realized awhile ago.
And the funny thing was, I kept playing it in my phone for a long time now.
I am perfect the way I am and who I am.
(TuT)

"Don't you ever, ever feel like you're less than perfect
If you ever feel, like you're nothing you are perfect to me"

Here's the lyrics:

Made a wrong turn
Once or twice
Dug my way out
Blood and fire
Bad decisions
That's alright
Welcome to my silly life

Mistreated this place
Misunderstood
Miss knowing it's all good
It didnt slow me down.

Mistaking
Always second guessing
Underestimating
Look I'm still around

Pretty, pretty please
Dont you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than
Fucking perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing
You're fucking perfect to me

You're so mean
When you talk
About yourself, you were wrong
Change the voices in your head

Make them like you instead
So complicated
Look how we all make it
Filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game

It's enough
I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons
I've seen you do the same

Oh

Pretty, pretty please
Dont you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than
Fucking perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing
You're fucking perfect to me

The whole worlds scared
So I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking
Is an ice cold beer

So cool in line
And we try, try, try
But we try too hard
http://www.elyricsworld.com/fuckin'_perfect_lyrics_pink.html
And it's a waste of my time

Done looking for the critics
Cause they're everywhere
They don't like my jeans
They don't get my hair

Exchange ourselves
And we do it all the time
Why do we do that?
Why do I do that?

Why do I do that?

Yeeeeaaaahhh
Oooooooh
Oh baby pretty please

Pretty, pretty please
Dont you ever feel
Like you're less than
Fucking perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing
You're fucking perfect to me

You're perfect, you're perfect

Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing
You're fucking perfect to me
